clutch pedal pressure

clutch pedal pressure just curious, should I be able to press the clutch rod into the cylinder by hand, I'm about install the clutch master and I don't know what possessed me to try it but I tried to push the rod in by hand and it didn't budge and it just got me thinking that I should ask just in case. I didn't want to install it than put a bunch a force on it with the pedal and break something if its binding.

thanks for the reply, it is hooked up with fluid in it and it is attached to the transmission. Also, I took the rubber end cap off to have a better look and it actually does appear to be moving in about .25" How much travel should there be?

a couple of more questions, I'm not familar with clutches let alone hydraulic clutches so bare with me. Does the quick connect at the end of the master braided line push fluid or a plunger into the slave to actuate the clutch. And secondly should I bleed the master or the slave or both? Depending on the answer to question #1 do they have to be bleed together? I got the engine/tranny with the master disconnected from the trannsmission.
