Grand Sport Update: CHASSIS COMPLETED!
Saturday we dropped the rolling chassis off at Mid-America Industries to have Jeff Leech (he built the tube frame and the body) perform the task of getting the body in place. He'll also be putting the glass in and a few other body related things. I hope to pick it up after the holidays are over. Then it'll be time to do the wiring, plumbing and complete the interior... then get it running!
Take a look:
This is a shot of the headers under construction. A special jig was made to hold the steering shaft in the exact location so the headers could be designed to accomodate it.

Here's a close up of the headers on the engine. Mike smoothed out all the welds for a real "show car" look. Both sides are symmetrical. The 1.75" primaries feed down as far as possible to a 3.5" collector maiking them a "long tube" design. I couldn't stop looking at them.

Here's the entire chassis. The 20 gal stainless steel fuel cell still needs to be bolted in place and plumbed. It'll have an internal Walbro pump and use a '99 Vette fuel filter/regulator with a return line so only one line will have to be routed all the way to the engine.

That's all for now. More next year...

Mark's done a stellar job. Many details gone over with a fine toothed comb. Almost sad to cover the work of art with a big body, too bad it can't be clear! LOL
To see it in photos does not do it justice. My garage feels naked without the frame sitting there . . . although I did forget how big the garage was!

Can't wait to see the car completed, this is one of my favorite LS1 projects in the works!
