Question 1st Gen and Nova owners

Does anyone have pictures of an LS1 swap into a first generation Camaro or 68-72 Nova using the stock subframe? I would be very interested in seeing the motor to frame mounts and also if there is sufficient clearance for the A/C compressor in the low passenger side position. If not, what are alternatives. Also interested in the exhaust to steering box clearance. I have a Nova subframe in my Studebaker that has been narrowed 3 inches, I realize my clearances will be different, but pictures of succesful swaps would be very helpful in figuring out what I need to do.

Thanks

Pat

if you check out year ones website with their camaro they have pics of the setup that i am using on my 72 nova, but I think if i were to do it again i would notch the oil pan instead of going with their rack and pinion kit.

No problems so to speak,( havent had it driveable yet, but everything seems to move fluidly with out bind.) but I think the install would be easier to do with notching the pan, instead of doing the subframe mods to fit the rack,(if you have good fabrication skills its no big deal)

The biggest thing is I don't like how low the sway bar hangs below the pan with the brp kit, I am thinking of running a splined nascar style front swaybar either on top of the downtubes (when I get my rollcage installed or run it right in front of the engine on teh frame.

I feel it is a good setup, Its just that my car is gonna sit very low, and I don't like the swaybar(or any part of teh car) being that close to the ground.

although with the rack setup being in front of the engine with the swaybar used to be the room to run headers is plentiful due to the steering box not being in the way, as a matter of fact I have found the mac midlength headers will fit without modifying them but the left header is about 1/4 inch away from the frame so I cut the flange off of the head and tilted the header in at the bottom and rewelded the head flange back on.

i will try to send pictures after i put the motor back in the car. I have a '69 Camaro with the BRP mounts and the S & P modified oil pan. If you leave alone the A/C fits but extremely tight. Also, the engine sits a little too far forward. I moved the stock pedestals to the back of the the engine crossmember and made a pocket for the A/C compressor. Now the engine sits right where it's supposed to.
