Engine details.
Why couldn't a guy using a buffing block compound and hand held air grinder with a buffing pad have some good results? I'm sure others have been here. It would be great to keep the engine at home and do all the prep and bolt on modifications such as the oil pan and things.
With the S & P tech info and this site I feel I can put the modified harness back on and the same for the modified fuel rails. Did I mention this will be in a 69 camaro so no worring about the added weight and hassle of the polution components.
for the plastics and rubber, any kind of silicone spray works great for that gloss shine.. (thats all "engine detailer" is) for the factory new plastic matte look, meguires has this "natural shine" stuff thats amazing. (smells nice too)
for the alum, you COULD use a buffer and alum polish.. but then you need to polish everything evenly. i like stiff nylon brushes and simple green.. followed by a light layer of either light oil or alum protectant.. the oil keeps the now oil free engine from oxidizing and is cheap..
but the big thing for details is attention to it.. espically wires and hoses. no matter how clean you make your motor, if you have your fuel line going up and around the fender wells and your wiring running across the engine bay, it just doesnt look very neat. notice that on alot of the "wow thats a clean engine bay" cars, you dont NOTICE the wiring.. its still there, you just dont NOTICE it. it doesnt stand out... lil things like using clamps to hold stuff out of the way, and using colors that either blend in, or are black, really help.
