Default lt1 to ls1 swap

allright i know its been discussed..but i couldnt find the answer i was looking for...i have been toying with the idea of putting a ls1 in my 94 ta..i bought it as a roller (no motor no tranny) ..lt1 stock wiring harness is there as well as pcm, k member etc..i have been reading and most people just by the whole subframe and bolt it up..well i was at the boneyard today hunting and was talking to the guy...he said that he could get me a subframe here for 300 bucks..(just sf not rack and pinion..no susp..etc...) he said that my a arms and susp would bolt right up to the newer k-member..is he full of ****? he said the k-member just had the motor mounts for the ls1 and my old suspension would work.. ..or new tubular k member for that matter and use my stock a-arms,rack and pinion etc..from my car? sounds too easy so it prob is..i have researched the fuel setup as well..i guess ill need a gas tank and lines from a newer car...would a v6 tank work if i swapped out pumps? i dont care about the guages and stuff..i can hook up all manual stuff to it if i can..(temp,oil pressure, and fuel is all i need) this is going to be a RACE car only..i MIGHT drive it occasionally on the street.. if the k-member from him is 300 then i think i would just buy a new tubular k-member, reuse my 94lt1 suspension..would this be sufficeint? i think the rack and pinion is different.. can i use the ls1 style rack and pinion on the lt1 suspension? if not can i just buy the new tub k-member and run a manual rack setup? this is a little pricey but if thats what needs to be done..i dont care about the wire harness either..i will just get a whole new one from fast or whatever. my main concern right now is what its going to take to physically get the motor in..im thinking a new tub k-member and a new steering rack? then re-use stock 94 arms and such or will it not work..sorry so long..and im prob gonna ask a milllion more questions as well...

matt

Im currently working on a 94 Camaro V6 Conversion. $300 for the kmember is way too high IMO. I see them on ebay for $125-$200 all the time. I bought a tubular K member for $215 IIRC from a sponsor here (through ebay).

i talked with bmr today..looks like ill be ordering a tub k-member,,and finding a ls1 steering rack and everything else will bolt up.. anys suggests..on wireing harness? should i just find a stocker with ecu or by and aftermarket one..doesnt matter about the tranny (a4 or m6) since ill have a th400 behind it..also the guy at bmr said that they didnt make a th400 crossmember for the lt1 car with the ls1 in it..i had a m6 crossmember from an ls1 car when i was going to put it behind my 98 but he said that wont work..do i just need to get a m6 crossmember from a lt1 car and space it up similar to how the ls1 people do it? thanks matt

call john @ speartech. he gave me the info i needed and did my harness.

you will need to send him your ls1 harness so that it plugs into your 94 interior wires.
