LS1 with a carb setup
LS1 with a carb setup Hello!
I bought an almost new block LM7 5.3L (2000 or newer) engine block with stock parts. The only important part I don't have is the wiring harness, ECU, and sensors.
After digging aroung I found the article dealing with installation of LS1 style intake with a carb. Here is the link:

Has anyone here attempted this? I got a reply from Edel. tech who told me to use stock coil packs, MAP, knock, cam sensors for this setup. The intake with MSD costs $700. With upgraded springs, hot cam they netted 503 hp at 6600 rpms and 449 lb. ft at 5000rpms. Not bad for a carb setup.
The engine is going to be installed either in my 67 Camaro or 69 El Camino.

I was thinking of going the carb route for a while. If i were still thinking about doing it, id go with the GMPP single plane intake, and then get MSD's box on its own. Then one from MSd is able to be tuned from a laptop rather than the box that comes with the edelbrock which is only tuned with the plug in pills. I was wanting to be able to retard timing for nitrous use though.
