Default Cooling question

My Studebaker is already a hybrid, even before the LS1 goes in. It has a custom radiator with a thermostatically controlled electric puller fan and a pusher fan that comes on with the A/C. I have a mild 350 +.040 in there now and it cools it fine. Will this set up be adequate to cool a pretty much stock LS1? I have a seperate remote cooler for my Turbo 350, and plan to use that to cool the A4 with the LS1.

Thanks

Pat

It Will be fine but make sure you can find rad hoses that will fit. you need to tee in one line that will go on the top of the motor near the intake. someware. do a serch and you should find it. it is a vent. I am not sure where they tee it.

The vent tube sits below the throttle body and is the small metal line that connects to the top of the block right in front of the valley cover plate. You can run a hose from it into a 3/8" NPT on the radiator (up high somewhere) or I think I've seen them T'd into the upper radiator hose too.

Here's another thought: Use the green coolant instead of the orange Dex-Cool if you're using a non sealed system w/ an overflow tank. The orange stuff turns nasty when exposed to air . There was a really good thread in this forum about that.

Thanks Guys, great info

badjuju, I searched for the thread you spoke of using "Coolant" as a search term but did not find it. Do you remeber a key word or title for the thread? Also what is the proper name for the green coolant. I use a pressurized cap with a stainless steel coolant recovery tank.

thanks again everyone.

Pat
