Rear Brake Question?

Will the rear disc brakes from a 98 Z28 bolt up to a stock 88 firebird formula rear?

You might get more answers in "Gears and Axles" or Handling and Braking" but I'll leave this thread here because some of the 3rd gen swap guys might be able to answer it for you.

It would take some work to get the emergency brake to work as it is seperate from the rear brake calipar. The lt1 style (93-97)rear disc brake will be easier to put on and get to work as the emegerncy brake is intagrated into the rear calipar. There is also only a 1/2 inch differnce in rear rotor size between lt1(93-97) and ls1(98-02) style brake's which won't effect braking much. you will need to get all of the flanges, bolt's and shim's but it should work with your stock axle's.

I think you may need to fabricate some adapter plates because some of the variances in the axles and flanges. I have Camaro disc brakes on my 9" Ford made possible by changing the axle ends to the GM type. By using the GM axle flange shims like a stock Camaro has, I was able to get everything lined up. They work well with the early Corvette iron master cylinder and I'm even using the stock Camaro park brake setup.
