Default Ok, VERY wierd problem...need help

Ok, i started my car up today as i have every weekend, and it starts up ok and runs fine for a second or two...then all of a sudden the steering wheel starts going back and forth VERY VIOLENTLY....so i shut it down real quickly and went to go check it out and nothing seemed out of place, but the power steering lines started dripping a bit, but I dont see how a powersteering leak can cause that violent of a problem. I dont understand what could even do this?? I also cant seem to put the key in the acc or on position and i cant turn it over either...it seems locked except it goes backwards for electronics to work. I have a rack and pinion from hawks third gen parts by the way. I apreciate any help you guys can give me...I really dont need another problem or expense on my hands .

sounds like a bad rack and pinion. i had a 75 vette that i was working on and it did the same thing. i ended up replacing the slave cylinder on it. i know it is a completely different setup, but that is my suggestion

Actually, it sounds ike the lines are backwards from the pump to the steering box. I have experienced this first hand.

have to agree, it's happened at work, servo lines are hooked up backwards. you're turning the wheel to the left and the assist thinks you want to turn right and vice versa.

could be it...it doesnt indicate on the rack and pinion which line is in and which is out so i kinda of attached them where they lined up best. Now, i started it up before with the lines how they were, and it never did this...is it because maybe i accidently moved the wheel this time so the r&p tried to correct it one way then it tried to correct it the other way and so on? Another quiestion I have is does this hurt the r&p any, its brand new and very expensive and so that is a main concern as well...
Thanks a ton for the info
