I've been looking into it and it seems like it can probably be done as low as 10K and up to 20K. Alot depends on how much you can do yourself, there is some fabbing with the cross member it needs to be notched and then reinforced you also need to be careful with the welding as you can bow the frame. And then there are plenty of support prods out there like oil pan and headers and such but the real P.I.T.A. is the harness it can kick your *** real quick. Like I said it all depends on you capabilities.
I has cost me around $5k to buy the engine, tranny, harness, fuel system, and other misc. items. I am putting my LS-1 in a 81 camaro. I put a 327 in a S-10 when I was back in high school and it seems like it wouldnt be a big problem to do it with a LS-1.

i started an ls1 s10 swap and sold the ls1 and bought an lt1
the ls1 in a s10 isnt that bad its just what you need to find
you have to use the corvette accessories which can be hard to find.
the best bet on the harness is to mod it or have it modded to be a stand alone harness

got my ls1/t56 swap running in my 89 s-10 for right at $5000. Modded the harness myself, made f-body accessories and pan work, built tranny crossmember myself. This stuff helps save a lot of money. All the info you need is here on this site, esp. since there is a sticky for modding the harness. I used that exact same info and had to search for hours finding it.
