Default LS1 swap - Chevy G20 van

I'm looking to put an LT1 or preferrably LS1 in my 1993 Chevy G20 Van, but can't find any information at all on the conversion. It currently has a 4.3 non Vortec TBI and 4L60E tranny. I've done a search in the forum and on the web and can only find info for the Astro van - nothing for the G vans.

My friend was telling me if I went with the LT1 I'd have to offset the motor mounts and notch the frame or buy a corvette bracket kit at the very least. I was wondering if there might be any like this involved with the LS1 conversion as well...

If anyone has any info on this I would greatly appreciate it!

Thanks,

99bravada.

The LT1 swap shouldn't be all that hard. Should be just a matter of tracking down the v8 parts. G20's came from the factory with small blocks (which isn't a LT1, but is at least similar). I think you could even get the big block. However, I'm not all that familiar with GM vans, so maybe you couldn't get a 1 ton.

The LS1 swap is much closer to uncharted territory. Good luck with that. I don't have any advice for you there.

I've seen a full size chevy Van with a LS1 and a six speed. The engine looked lost in the van. This thing was really neat. It was used to pull a race car with and the owner said that it got 17/18 mpg pulling a loaded trailer.

I also am looking to do a LS type Vortec 5.3 into van. I guess I will need pan and mount adapters and hope the vortec truck acc brackets work?
Any one done a swap?

I have been considering this for years, but it is down on the project list for now, if you find any info, please post it up here. I'd like to get more info.
