Default LS1 in 69' Camaro Help...

Hey guys,

Looking to do a LS1 drop into a 1969 Camaro SS. I am currently working out a deal for a 98 LS1 out of a Camaro. My question is this...when I build it up, I will be switching the 1998 motor into my 2002 Camaro SS and then transplanting the motor from the 2002 into the 69 and I just want that as my baby. Will I run into any problems with putting the 1998 motor in my 2002? I know it sounds dumb but as of right now, I'm just confused!

P.S. In the 69, I will be using the LS1 Carb set-up from MSD and Edelbrock so the PCM from the donor Camaro will not have to be used for the 69' and will be non existant.

Am I getting that right?

Basically:

1. Can I use the 1998 engine with my 2002 PCM?

2. Just making sure the LS1 Carb Set-up will be cool with no PCM in the 69'?

Help guys!

sounds like too much work to me. I would just use the '98 motor in the '69 and leave the 2002 alone. Save time and lots of moolah.

I agree. Leave the 2002 engine alone. Just buy some performance upgrades for the '98 and drop it into the '69.

If you're set on swapping though, pull the sensors off of the '02 and put them on the '98 when you install it, shouldn't have any issues beyond that.
