Mb Ls1? I have been searching for the right LS1 swap for some time, but now i think i have a good idea, and it has been right under my nose the whole time... What about an LS1 swap into my 1985 Mercedes Benz 300D? Smallblocks have been swapped into this style car before, but the main problem with the chevy smallblock was the distrubutor at the rear of the engine. Since the LS1 does not have a distributor, and i have learned about the carburetor kit, i dont think the actual engine instalation would be that hard. I think it would be cool to have this car as a sleeper. Does anyone know anything about this sort of swap? the car is a 1985 Mercedes Benz 300D W123 body style. I would like to swap LS1/T56 in using the carburetor conversion.

I imagine it would cost more to go carb'd and you would lose some performance, driveability, and fuel economy. I make nearly 500hp at the flywheel with stock intake/fuel rails/computer controls.... why go backwards in technology....?
