click on the sponsor link for HP Tuners. You need a diagnostic scanner to read the codes. You can go the cheaper route with AutoTap on a laptop, but with HP Tuners it also allows you to tune the car too.
Or, get one of those plug-in scanners from an autoparts store. It gives you the error number, and then you need your car's shop manual to look up what that number means.

like nine ball said if you want to get serious you should get a tunning tool like hp tuners or somthing along the lines as that. But if you just want to view the codes you can go to auto zone and rent the tool to view them, and erase them for the time being untill you throw the code again.
