Default Some conversion questions

I am a newb to the whole conversion scene, iv been trolling these threads for a month or so, and i have some questions.

1) I think my ideal conversion cosmetically would be ls1-t56 into a stingray vette, i guess it would be a c3(before the c4). I know 1 person on here has it done and btw he did a great job, i was wondering, conversion car wise, how hard is that?

2) What is the easiest car to do a conversion into? im a beginner wrencher and would have the help of my neighbor whos pretty much a grese monkey and fixes cars and motorcycles all day, so i need a car that would be easiest to slap an ls1/t56 in.

3) Parts only, about how much should i expect to spend? I saw the how much u spent thread but thats all so various and includes cars and stuff, im only talking about wiring pcm flashing parts and ls1/t56, not the body of the car.

Thanks and all ur conversions are SICK!!!

A V-6 Camaro/Firebird of the same year as the LS1 donor car is the easiest...pretty much no wiring involved.

Between around $1500 to $5000 for the LS1 powertrain complete, plus another $40 or so if you score a used chassis harness, plus around $300 or so for PCM flashing. Then there's whatever the recipient car needs on top of that...rad, hoses, fuel system stuff, etc. varies by car.

.
sorry, i should have clarified, i meant to say not of the same model...I want to be unique, having an ls1 in a firebird although unique isnt quite what i was looking for. I mean as for as 280sx, 240sx, 3rd gens, 2nd gens, rx-7's, bmw's...My DD is a bmw 635csi, plenty of engine room there, maybe i could swap it into that, its kind of a whale though, anyway, as for the above listed and any others u may think of, which is easiest

Homieg,
If you want to be unique it will not be easy unless you can fabricate everything by yourself. The easiest way is to choose a car that many people have done the swap on and someone is selling a kit for the conversion. That way it will take all the guest works out for you. I am currently doing an LS1 swap into a 280Z. There is a dozen of people from Hybridz.org doing this swap. Also someone is selling a kit for this swap too. Hop over there and check it out. Good luck

I did the LS1/T56 RX7 swap. Pretty easy. Just need motor/tranny mounts, a shortened GM drive shaft with a Deapco flange on it, an after market fuel pump/ pressure regulator , an aftermarket radiator/fan, a Wilwood clutch master, a moded T56 clutch line and mate the Mazda/ Ls1 power steering hoses. Slap it all together and go out looking for some vettes to put down !!!!
