ls1 project
ls1 project hey guys i have a 1996 rcsb chevy (5 speed) and i want to swap a ls1 into the truck but still have it as a daily driver/track. what would i need and do to make it work perfect and remember im on a budget so...
First things first... Get yourself another means of transportation, if this project is your daily driver & your only means of getting around. Then put aside about $5,000.00 to get started buying everything. Engine, engine harness or modified harness, computer reprogramming, transmission, exhaust system, driveshaft shortening, motor mounts, engine accessory change-overs, fuel system plumbing, etc... Budget??? If you barter & wait for the better price on things to come around, higher mileage drivetrain, etc...You could probably get by with 3 or 4 thousand dollars. If you wanted a low milage drivetrain & a first class installation with some Aeroquip hardware, Corvette engine accessories(such as the Vette alternator & brackets, P.S. pump, dampner, etc...), Sanden air compressor & brackets, thermal coated headers, etc, etc, etc,...Then it's going to cost well north of $5,000.00. More like $10,000.00...So, as they say...How happy do you want to be?
