Default 98 LS1 in 88 GTA - Brackets/Accessories

Just getting started on this swap, have the engine, ECM and harness. Engine is long block with no accessories or brackets. Getting ready to pull the L98 out and sell (email if you’re interested) and trying to figure out which brackets/accessories I should keep to re-use on the LS1. Want to keep a/c, power steering, etc. Will any of my current accessories and/or brackets work? For you 3rdGen guys, let me know what’s worked well for you, pictures appreciated too.

While I’m asking might as well touch on the coils too. I’ve seen mention of space issues for regular coils. Is this a for sure problem, can you mod the bracket to make regular coil work or should I just give up on this and buy truck coils?

None of your current brackets will interchange. You can use your stock A/C compressor, but you need additional brackets, on top of the LS1 brackets, to use it.

As far as the coils, some people have been able to trim the A/C box and some have not had to do anything. Why the variance, I don't know. I just went ahead and put truck coils on the passenger side and most people don't even notice until I tell them.

Did you use F-Body or Corvette brackets on your 87 swap? Any other space/clearance issues using the brackets/accessories you used? As to the other bracket needed for my current compressor, if that's the route you went, where did you get the proper bracket? Would love to see a picture of your layout. Thanks!
