No A/C??
The motor will oviously have the corvette accessories and manifolds. Are the manifolds at more of a straight down angle or more towards the back?
Thanks

Don't throw the belt away, you may need it later.
I dropped an LS1 6-speed into my '95 Caprice last year. I had AC clearance issues also. what I did (to allow room for the AC compressor) was to heat (big torch) up the area of the engine crossmember where there was interference and using a large ball peen hammer 'massage' it until the compressor fit. I drove the car with the LS1 installed for the last year, and finally today installed the AC compressor, belt and modified AC lines (used the F-body block and the B-body lines...creative welding to make what I needed) this morning. It has just been too hot and humid to 'enjoy' no AC any longer.
My point is...if you make the clearance for the AC compressor and the block/lines now, you can easily add AC later without too much trouble. If you don't make the room for it now, you may never want to take the engine out 'just to make room for the AC compressor'.

What I did was cut away the interference area and welding in new metal to strenthen it back up. Looks good, just painted it by the way.
This took time but it was less expensive then purchasing a new compressor and brackets for top head installation plus a longer belt. Granted the top head location has already been designed and works well for a direct bolt on experience, and it is a good route to go. My moto is to never re-invent the wheel if some else has come up with a good design it is usually less expensive in the long run to purchase the kit then to spend time and mony running around to design the same thing. The only benifit is if one likes and enjoys the challenge to design everything from scratch.
Clearancing the frame was no big deal and allows me to use the stock components and not a custom belt, compressor, or brackets.
Just my opinion.
I should have my LS1 running at the end of this month, well that is my goal.
