Default Fuel line upgrade

Okay, I am confused about fuel lines. I just called jegs and they confused me more. This is my problem: Currently I am running 3/8 rubber fuel line and I want to upgrade to a hard fuel line. Here is my problems:

1st. The fuel rail- What kind of coupling do I need to connect a 3/8 hard line with the fuel rail.

2nd. Hooking up the fuel regulator/filter- I am running the vette system, it has both 3/8 for the fuel and 5/16 for the return. I am more concerned with running a hard line from the outlet to the fuel pump and keeping the rubber lines to the tank.

3rd. The fuel pump- I have ordered inlet/outlet 6AN adapters for my walbro which brings me to my overall question.

what kind of fittings do I need to hook up the fuel rail, regulator/filter, and the pump.

I am confused about the AN and NPT fittings. I understand it is a difference of thread counts but can I run all AN fittings? The guy at jegs told me they dont carry an adapter to hook up my fuel rail to a 3/8 hard line. I think he is wrong but I need your guys help to order.

Thanks,
Clay

Well, first off you don't want to run hard line to the motor. The motor is going to move and can damage the line. With that said you want to use braided 6 AN hose from the steel line to the motor. You can setup some kind of bulkhead and do it this way. If you have steel lines now on the Vette, you can buy a set of 6 AN steel tubing sleeves and a set of the 6 AN tube nuts. What this will allow you do to is to put a AN style fitting on a steel line. All you have to do at that point is put a 37 degree double flare on the steel line and you have a perfect place to put a male bulkhead on the fuel line. Hope this makes sense.

Or you can buy russell hard tube adaptors for about $9 each, you do not need to flare the line, good if you do not have a good flaring tool.

You need to run hard line tube up to around the firewall, then some flexible line (rubber or braided) from there to the engine to allow for engine movement, so the hardline doesnt move but the flexible hose can.

So what you need is hard tube adaptors for the steel line and you also need hose and hose ends to go from the hard tube adaptor to the next hard tube adaptor where you will have whichever hose and hose ends you prefer in between, whether it be push fit hose or braided steel hose.
