Default Fuel regulator?

I got the modified early 2 line / gulator fuel rails on my2001 LS1. I see alot of the guys using single line Filter/ reg combo.
Which setup is better? single line filter/ regulator combo or Regulator on rails with 2 line as in early Vettes. I remember hearing that regulator/filter set up have fuel heating issue. Is this thruu? Just like to know.
Thanks

Exactly. The return line rails keep the fuel cooler as it is constantly circulating. I have the non-return rails with the regulator in the trunk and have never had any issues although I'm sure I'm losing a couple of HP because my fuel is warmer.
I think if you mount the aftermarket return regulator up front any advantage of the returm rails over the non-return would be minimal.
I like the non-return rails as it makes the engine compartment cleaner looking.

Actually the 2 line return systems increase the temp of the gas in your tank. Think about it, gas circulating under your hood, soaking heat out of the fuel rails, and then returning to the tank. They went to the deadhead system to reduce evap emissions caused by the heat temp of gas in the tank. Hot gas gives off more vapors.

I forgot to put this in. The bad thing about the deadhead/returnless system is that the gas in the fuel rails have the chance to boil after turning the car off, and there is a VERY MINOR chance of vapor lock like in old cars. The return systems would flush out the boiling gas/vapor back to the gas tank. Now I have yet to hear about any cars with the returnless system having vapor lock, especially with fuel pressures of 58 PSI I think LS engines are running.

RIght, the 58 constant rail pressure, helps prevent the fuel boiling problem in the ls1 cars, this is how all of the LS1 cars run, other than the 97-98 vettes.

Part of the reason was strict evap tests that went into effect in 1999, so that is why gm did it, or cost

Either way, a front mount regulator will provide marginally better contant rail pressure, but as long as your not going FI, both work fine.
