Default Transmission "ears"?

I test fitted the transmission yesterday and it looks like everything will be very close but there are a couple little ears sticking off the transmission right behind where the bellhousing bolts to the tranny. It looks like they are there for attatching a hoist but not anything actually in the car. There is one on the drivers side and two on the passenger side, they all have a single, unthreaded, hole in them. I'm wondering if I can cut these off or if they have an actual reason for being there. I'm also going to need a little "clearancing" of the tunnel with a large hammer, but it shouldn't be to bad if these tabs are gone. If anyone knows a good reason for me to keep these please let me know, otherwise it's time for a large cutting wheel.

I used them for addtional mounts but you don't need them for anything. Bring out the sawzall.
