I'm getting ready to put an LS1 in my 91 Wrangler witha 4L60E tanny. The mechanical side is a non issue. The wiring from GM to the Jeep is my issue. I need input on the best way to proceed.

The harness for the LS1 is a stand alone harness for it only. you will need a fuel pump that will supply fuel at 58 lbs. this will be fed 12V from your GM harness when key is on. the starter can be spliced into the Jeep Ign switch. The Jeep ign switch supplies 12V for the coil and injector power. you will need a constant 12V for the PCM. all of the jeeps non drive train stuff is still ran by the jeep stuff.

I have the similar setup of LS1 and 4l60e. The PCM controls both the LS1 and 4l60e. Once you get all the harness connections for power and ignition then the transmission wired properly to the PCM it should work.

SpearTech built my harness for my LS1 and 4l60e and Gbody modified his own harness. Can't be that hard.

Its not that hard, you wont need any other wires for yout transmission to function properly, just the two connectors coming from the LS1 harness. All your shift points are controlled by the ECM. You need to give power to 6 wires to make the LS1 run, add a high pressure fuel pump, a regulator (corvette fuel filter has a built in regulator) and your stock solonoid wire from your Jeep starter will go to the LS1 starter. A wiring diagram from Mitchells On Demand or a similar program will pin point which wires you need to give power to, and with what amp fuse they need to be fused. If you need more help feel free to PM me and I can probably help you pin-point the power wires.

guys thanks for the help!!!!!!!!!!!!

I may holler back later but I'm going to dive is with both feet. I would really rather spend the $700-$800 on valua added items instead of a wiring harness. I have time to dewire the non-essentials left in the factory.

I assume that I will still have to get someone to reprogram my ECU to take out the anti-theft and the gas tank vent portion of the program? Are there other things that I should have bypassed in the ECU?
