Oil Level Indicator Switch

LS1 (98) swap into 88 GTA. Finishing up parts list and have the "oil level indicator switch" as one of the parts but with a question mark. I know this goes in the side of the oil pan and assume (waiting on Helms manual delivery) it passes a signal if the oil is low. Is this switch required by the computer for proper operation? I don't think it would be lighting the oil lamp in the dash but thought it was worth asking.

No its not necessary. I dont have anything plugged into the oil level sensor. I talked to speartech about it and he said he just took it out of my wiring harness.

Thanks for the replys! I think this is the first time I've been able to take something off the list. Seem to always be adding more to it. Wish it had been one of the expensive parts.

Isnt it wierd to have a potential problem not cost you hundreds of dollars? I can only think of a couple times that happened.
