Default VSS wire

I have a 2000 LS1 w/ 4L60E. My connector for the vss is from a 2wd and I have a transfer case with the vss in it. I have to change connectors and don't know which wire goes where. Does it matter how the 2 wires are connected?
Thanks

In a '98 one wire is VSS low (ground) and the other is VSS high but I really don't think (someone chime in if I'm wrong) it matters how they are connected. The speed sensor is a magnetic pickup, just a loop of wire.
