Default anyone mount the pcm inside the vehicle?

My 98 pcm will be mounted inside the cab....just wondering how I should mount it and also whats the best way to run the harness through the firewall?? I want to make it look decent, seal well and not take a chance of damaging the wires.

thanks

I mounted my PCM inside on the passenger kick panel where the stock ECM was located. I had SpearTech make me a custom harness to my specified length by measuring the old harness and its routing. I used the factory firewall hole and gromet.

I then modified the kick panel slightly to strap the computer to it and I modified the kick panel computer cover to go around the large PCM. I have yet to take the old cover and modify it to make it larger to cover the PCM.

I think I posted pictures on my 1986 El Camion LS1 swap thread.

I mounted it inside too. took a truck mount for the PCM and cut it till only the part that it snaped into was left. then I took two small Al pices of stock and scerwed them to what was left. then mounted it to the heater core air box. Had to drill a 2" hole to feed the haeness through the fire wall, made a real big garment to go through with. put the 2" hole eaven with the intake and you can't see the main harness at all. looks real clean.

Cool...did you wire the motor then feed the pcm connectors through the firewall or did you mount the pcm and feed the harness into the engine compartment??

Where did you find the grommet and did it seal really well?

I wired the motor then sent the plugs through the fire wall. it seemed to need the same size hole both ways. I had a chunck of a plastic/rubber type of stuff that I turned down and put a groove into for the firewall then I drilled a hole through it and cut a slit in it to slide the wires through. It was a pain but it sealed really well.
