Default T56 + Carbed LS1 = ?

Hey guys my dad is looking into getting a 67 Chevy c10 Pickup, and hes going to use my old 4.8L LS1 motor for it. We are thinking about converting it to a carbed setup and mating a T56 for it. What would be needed as far as electronics are concerned for the trans since there will be no PCM? Speedo, etc?

wondering the same thing but about the 5.3 with carb.edelbrock has a setup but i think its overpriced,but if it works really good then it would be a bargain.how the hell did you get your truck that quick in quarter?low 13 sec range with 4.8,man those ls1 cars cook!

4.8L has hotcam, tune, longtubes, full exhaust, 3000 stall, 4.10 gears, and a small shot of juice.

I'm gunna stab a 6.0L with a vortech sq trim blower soon, so we'll see how that goes.

i have a few firebird bodies laying and might do a 4.8 or 5.3 install just to see how it would run.Dwmn quick truck u have there.Have u seen the turbo 6.0 4wd truck that runs in the 10 sec range and is street driven?I think his name is parish and am sure he is a member on here.

how are you getting totaly away from the pcm? you still have eletronic igntion to deal with correct? the t56 deosn't requrie a pcm it does have a digtial out put that you have to have a signal converter box to adapted to your speedo but other then that your good to to go. btw nice project. I am working on a 69 c20 but I'm not sure what I'm doing with the drive line. I'm probly going ot stay tradtion'll small block or big block with a four speed. I am realy been looking into swaping in a duramax diesel though but cost wise I'm probly not going to do it.

The T56 has 2 electronic controls. The 1-4 skip shift that can be left disconnected, and the reverse lockout solenoid. The reverse lockout requires a 12V signal and ground and energizes to allow reverse.

On the reverse lockout, is A or B the positive side?

B is 12V and A is grounded through the ECM.

It doesnt have to be grounded through the ecm though correct? If its a ground it shouldnt matter right? Im wiring mine to a constant 12v switch so that i can turn it on and off, so i could ground the A straight to be the body. Correct me if im wrong. Sorry for being off topic.

That is correct. Just ground pin A when you want to go into reverse with either a toggle or maybe a button on the shifter.

I just connected my reversr lockout to my brake switch so if i wanted to go to reverse you just have to hit the brake. I just grounded it constant and the positive side went to the brake switch powerout to the tail lights.
