2005 gto t56 I searched and couldn't find much. I am doing an ls1 into a 1st gen camaro and I have an oppurtunity to get a brand new t56 out of a gto. To be honest I do not know much about the new gto's. Does anybody have experience with these trans? Are the dimensions the same as an f body t56? Does it have the same tailshft as the fbody t56? any help will be appreciated
I'm pretty sure that it's the same tranny but with a different gearset. It has the MN12 (Z06) gears. Some people like the ratios better than the MN6, some don't. Honestly, they're not that different. I've never noticed a difference in my two cars. (Then again, there are bigger differences between the two than just the transmission gearing... 
) If you can get it for a decent price, I see no problem with the GTO tranny vs an F-body one. You will need a new shifter though. The stock GTO one stinks.

thanks, I thought that it had the same ratios as the z06. Also, I did some more searching and I found a pic of one and it looks like there is a fixed yoke on the Gto trans. Is this the true or am I missing somthing?
