383 LS1 in a 91 RS
1) has anyone ever installed a ls1 in a 3rd gen. I also have the 4L60E I plan on useing. Will all of this go right in? Will my drive shaft work? Or will I need a new one?
2) I haven't got the computer and wiring yet. Where is a good place to look for that? also, There anyway to get my 91 RS wiring to work? I will prob need to re-porg the computer because of the 383, whats the best route to take on that?
3) I still need a cam. What is a good STREET cam, I want allot of torque and this motor will be all engine. I plan on using a stall(around 2500). I also don't want to pay in the $400 dollar range. I'll take a used cam if I can get one cheap. Should I go with bigger rockers? Not sure what the stock size is, just looking for a cheap way to get some torque.
4) still need a crank. I don't want anything special, just a cheapy around the $200 range. Which ones work, Do i need a 1 or 2 piece seal?
5) I need a flywheel. What do oyu think would be a good one, remember, don't want to spend a lot of money. I'll even take a stock, so if anyone out there replaced theirs with a lighter one and want to sell your old one, let me know.
6) how many CC's are the stock heads?
Think that covers most of it for now. thanks for your help

You -may- want to read up a bit on the LS1 before attempting the swap. New cams are always in the $400 range and cranks are more like $2000. Also, the LS1 has a different bore/stroke than a std SBC (3.989/3.622 v. the old 4/3.48) and since the aluminum block can be bored more than .005 or so building a 383 will be an all-stroke affair.
You should look into building a 383 SBC, not a Gen III LS1. They will have the prices you are looking for.
