Are you still trying to use the C5 instrument cluster?
its a pressure switch that compares the pressure between the front and rear pistons.
if you have a failure on one side (slow leak, low fluid, line cut by ex-wife, ect..) then when you put the brakes on, the switch sees one side has alot more pressure then the other, and it clicks over... grounding a brake warning light.
if you fix the problem, and apply the brakes, it should click itself off.
older cars had this switch in the prop valve.. newer cars have it built into the master cyl... the ABS unit acts like its own prop valve.
