Default Injector o-rings

John B.

Did you replace the injector o-rings, after removing the fuel rail? The helm manual states that the o-rings must be replaced w/ new o-rings after removing the injectors so I called my local chevy dealer for a price, $63.00 for a kit which includes the o-rings, there is no part # for just the o-rings.I'm not sure if I should use the old o-rings or pay 63.00 for new o-rings??????

I've re-used injector Orings before without problems, though it can be risky, as they can be destroyed easily. I've installed & reinstalled the injectors on our Cobra a couple times without any leaks also.

You should *definitely* not pay that much for O rings though. I don't think the O rings on an LS1 are any different than the typical fuel injector O rings used in any of the port fuel injected cars by GM in the last decade, so maybe you can cross reference them. I know I have about 2 dozen in a bag at home from AC Delco, and I'm damn sure I didn't pay that much

Ah here's the part number I used for the O rings on my Syclone: GM #17113544

Not sure if that is a kit or not, but I do know that they do fit any of the aftermarket injectors (36s, 42.5s, 50s, 75s etc). At least it's a part number you can look up at GMPartsDirect etc.

hope that rambling helps somehow

if they are soft and plyable, you can probably get away with re-using them. if they have flat spots on them or seem brittle, toss 'em. it's better to replace them. but if you do re-use them lube 'em real good with some silicone.

The replacement advice is for old, cracked or distorted o-rings. As long as they look good as the other have stated, lube with regular engine oil and re-install. I used my original ones without incident
