Default LS1-PT

I have been flogging the little DOHC 2.4 long enough, w/turbo. I got it to run 14.3 at 99 mph, but I'm hungery for some serious horses! I just sold my turbo motor and setup, so here we go!

I'll be running a full frame, of 2 X 6 6061 T6 aluminum front to back. Tie in on the six 17 mm mounting bolts up front, where the orig engine and trans fastened. Six more spots down the sides through the uni-body and two more at the rear trailing arm points in the back. I have 31" side to side width up front, (since it was a FWD car) and 29" from the radiator to the fire wall. I plan on mounting the engine and trans on it's own cradle, that will load from under the car. There will be ample room to do normal repair work from the top, but the hood is so narrow up front, I'm not going to try to install from the top. The drive cradle, will bolt to the new frame rails with four large bolts and the front six mounting hard points. The rear end will retain the torque arm, shortened slightly and the stock Trans AM lower arms. The arms will mount to new adjustable brackets on the newly fabricated frame, but moved inward, to allow for the narrowing of the rear end. A 29" wide path will be cut from front to back in the floor pan and a new tunnel and floor pan made. Fire wall removal will be needed as well, I know! I want to do a 4" chop on the roof to give it that 40's hot rod look and lay the windshield back some more.
The car will be changed to a front steer set-up and the rack moved forward to allow for the oil pan. ... A nice weekend project don't you think?! As I get into this deal, .... I will post some pix.

Thanks Brian!
I put all my running gear up for sale on my web page last Wed. Can you believe it is all gone except the 2 axles and the seats!?! ... I'm talking $12,300 in 4 days. A guy in Colorado paid over $9000 for the complete engine and turbo system. I was hoping to get $5-6K so I could do a nice job on the LS1-PT!

If you check out my web page, http://www.bstockum.com
"The seed of speed" ... will explain how this thing got started! <img border="0" title="" alt="[Wink]" src="gr_images/icons/wink.gif" />

The 2002 WS-6 was here for SLP headers & exhaust, 4,000 stall converter, whisper intake and some other mods. It had a total of 706 miles on it!

Thanks, ... Bob
