'65 Mustang & LS1
Seriously though, I would do a search in the Mustang forums and find out what it takes to swap a late model Ford EFI motor into a car like yours (fuel tank pick, cooling system fans, etc.) and then plan for some changes to that plan by making LS1 motor mounts, tranny mounts, computer location and cooling system connections, etc. Should be pretty straight forward I think. As for the rear end, just use a 9", it should be plenty strong.
Good luck and keep us posted on progress.
