Oil and Temp Guages
98 LS1 w/ 98 computer and harness, going into 88 GTA
Original guages in car, will PCM provide correct input for water temp and oil pressure? I thought I had this right but noticed a couple of posts about putting a second sender (water temp) in the passenger head and then searched some more and saw the same thing about oil pressure sender. Thought I could get proper guage feed signal using connector 220, pin B (tan) for oil pressure and K (drk grn) for temp. Maybe I'm right and just confusing myself but thought it was better to ask now.
99-02 fbodies did NOT have a temp gauge output. so people run a separate sender in the passenger head.
i cannot confirm your pinout is correct, since i only have 99-02 wiring diagrams, but i know there is a wire in there for it.
as far as oil pressure goes, yes, its a tan wire (GM standard).. on any year fbody LS1, you can use the factory wire.... but some people want to use the proper sender for their gauge... those people use a separate sensor, usually mounted just above the oil filter.
i can confirm that the LS1 oil pressure sender works accurately on my 91 camaros gauges.. and my 91 camaro used the same sender as your 88GTA.. so it should be accurate on yours... or at least very very close.
