Default Suspension Question

Not to sound totally ignorant but, what is the panhard bar used for? Is it like an antisway bar, or does it help hold the transmission in place or what?
(Never said I was smart, I just said I’d try.)

It keeps the rearend from moving side to side, so it keeps the rearend centered in the chassis, not to be confused with a swaybar that helps body roll.

You sure it's not the torque arm you are referring to ?

Just curious... this is what'd be bolted up from the transmission to rearend. Lot more common to get this along with a motor/tranny than a panhard rod, which attaches the rearend to the frame/unibody. Panhard rod is parallel to the axle, torque arm is parallel to the driveshaft (more or less).

Your absolutely right. It is a torque arm! Thanks for setting me straight Brian.
