What year & type trans for 98 LS1???

What year & type trans for 98 LS1??? Hi everyone. I just got an 98 Corvette LS1 this past weekend. I also got the bellhousing, torque tube, rear trans and gearbox. Obviously I can't use this for my swap. I was wanting to know what year 700R4/4L60 will bolt on to my LS1? Or will work best for my 98 LS1? Also does anyone know of a corvette place that may trade me for the trans I need or buy this setup I have?

Re: What year & type trans for 98 LS1??? Not sure on the 700R4 but any 98-02 F-body 4L60E tranny should fit. You might want to post this in the Drivetrain section, you should be able to get some good information from there even though this is a hybrid. A few F-Bodies have done this type of conversion you might be able to do a search there also.

I'd call around to any of the larger speedshops that are good with LS1's - you may find someone went to a 400 or something for all out race setup, and they may have a 4L60E out of an Fbody around. I've seen them sell on the classifieds for $400-800, depending on with or without TC, and condition (used high miles up to rebuilt with better parts).
FWIW, my trans guy usually keeps them (4L60's & 4L60E's) stocked & built up, ready for swaps.
