Gas Pedal?

Gas Pedal? I will be putting a 2000 camaro ls1 into a 1955 chevrolet two door sedan. I do not have a way to work the throttle yet. What is the best throttle pedal to use? Is there a universal set up, or do I need to get one out of a camaro?

Re: Gas Pedal? Maybe 67LS1T56 will chime in. He modified the pedal in his camaro using a pedal from a monte carlo. If you want to take the easy way out like I did then you can use the stuff from Lokar. They have bolt-in cable-style throttle pedals for many different cars and have a cable that will work with the LS1.

Re: Gas Pedal? I got the pedal assembly from the 2000 car with the engine. So, I just cut off the top portion of the 2000 pedal rod (the part that holds the cable) and tapped it and bolted it to my existing pedal linkage on the outside of the firewall. I also adapted the plastic pedal from the 2000 to my accelerator pedal because it fit perfectly. I had to modify the throttle cable, because I had one from a 6 cylinder 2000 model. It was too short to reach the throttle body. I just cut a section of the black outer housing to expose more cable to connect to the throttle body. Works great and I shaved another $140 from the swap cost assumming I was going to use the Lokar pedal and cable.

67 LS1 Camaro project, Is there enough space between the engine and firewall for the gas pedal bracket to travel. On mine engine looks sit wery close and there is cables and hoses so I used the original cable mounted on the firewall like late model car by a washer welded to firewall.(I filed inside of a washer like the retaining clip of the cable) Inside the car I had a gas pedal from a 87 monte carlo, cut the end of it and welded to my gas pedal. But you have to mod. both litle bit to have full travel. Cable was long litle bit so I cut it and used cable stops.
