Default Signal wire for an ammeter?

My car has an ammeter, so where do I wire that up to with an LS1 conversion? Thanks

If it's a non-shunted ammeter (meaning it has heavy gauge wires hooking to it), then you break the wire coming from the output of the generator that goes to the battery and install the ammeter in there. Ammeters are really out of date. I would leave it out of the circuit altogether (they usually read "0" or close to it anyway). Leave in the car for looks and install a voltmeter if you want to monitor the electrical system, or nothing at all if you don't want to add any gauges.
