Default Engine install for 97 Z28

I am looking to replace or rebuild the engine in my 97 z28. Just wanted to see what everyone thinks about this project. Options for engine choice? Dificulty? Compatibility? LT1, LT4, LS1, LS6?

Personally, I love the sound of a built LT-1. I think that the swap would be difficult enough to call it a major project.

If your looking for the cheapest way to go build a lt1 if you want to spend some cash and get an engine with more potiential than we know about go with the ls1. Good luck in your swap
