Dubb--
All depends on your budget and your spare time my friend!! For example, Im a college student working part time during the year and full time during the summer with a 67 camaro as a daily driver. Looking back over the past 2 years there were probably smarter things to do instead of dropping in an LS1 and T-56. Ive still got most of my reciepts/invoices and Im looking at about $8,000-$9,000 now, easy. Granted the project is almost done, and Ive taken it VERY slowly. Also depends on how much you want to do yourself. The entire swap has taken place in my garage with my set of craftsman hand tools, (mostly). Its all time and money, but either way worth it in the end.
Also alot of frustration at times <img border="0" alt="[bang head]" title="" src="graemlins/gr_banghead.gif" />

very cool
my insurance just called my 01 Z06 totalled and I might buy it from them
drivetrain is perfect, it just has frame damage.
excluding the drivetrain, what kinda $$ do you think it would take ?

If you convert your M12 to a f-body bellhousing and rear extension housing it'll be significantly cheaper. The cost has to be astronomical to convert to the rear transaxle and IRS from a C5. At that point you're talking about gutting the 1st gen and building most of the frame from scratch.
I've seen pictures of it, looks awesome, but I see doller signs.

You could buy it back and just use the engine... I'm sure somone out there would love a new transaxle...
If you DO buy it back I'd like to talk to you about some interior parts <img border="0" title="" alt="[Wink]" src="gr_images/icons/wink.gif" />
