Truck Oil Pan Hello,
Can any one tell me if they have experience using the truck 6.0 or 5.3 oil pan with a G body LS1 conversion? Looks like it might have enough clearance and also hold a extra quart of oil verse the F-body pan.

I have spent quite a bit of time reading / studying what you have done with your LS1 swap. I did look before I posted the question but you said you looked under a truck at the dealer and ruled it out of the question, I crawled under our 2002 GMC with 5.3 and it looked possible to me, I even have the LS1 Engine Kit Installation guide put out my GM (part number 88959384 for those who might want it). The guide shows the dimensions for the various pans and the truck pan appeared to drop down 1" farther back than the F-body pan. I do have a older 350 pan which I intend to compare it to dimensionally but if somewhat has actual tried it, spent my time on one of the other numerous projects that is going on.
John your site is excellant...don't know how you find the time and if you get GM High-Tech Magazine, there's a pic of my car on pg 52 lower right.

Re: Truck Oil Pan I'm just pokin' fun at ya <img border="0" title="" alt="[Razz]" src="gr_images/icons/tongue.gif" /> I actually measured the pan too and it just wouldn't get the job done no to mention that it would hang down way too low.
