Speartech, about that alternator thread...
John, I am using the stock 2000 harness. My Helms manual shows one discrete line output from the PCM to the terminal B on the alternator. Is this 500 ohm resistance taken care of inside the PCM before it is output to the alternator? Your advice says ignition 12 volts to resistor and then to the alternator but I assume this is for a total hybrid situation where you do not use the PCM output line (the red wire on terminal B)and just splice twelve volts to it.
If not then this is incorrectly described in the manual as an output and really should be called a "sense" line. Your clarification would be appreciated before I splice that line.
Thanks,
John

You are correct. The 98 did not have PCM control of the alternator. The "lamp" function is taken care of by the PCM on 99 and up LS1 factory harnesses (and it's taken care of in ALL years of Speartech harnesses TPI/LT1/LS1! <img border="0" title="" alt="[Wink]" src="gr_images/icons/wink.gif" /> <img border="0" title="" alt="[Wink]" src="gr_images/icons/wink.gif" /> )
Just a little plug there! <img border="0" title="" alt="[Smile]" src="gr_stretch.gif" />
