Default Getting antifreeze into the block?

How can I get anti-freeze into my block? I filled the radiator then I removed the top hose on the block and filled there until it would take no more (not much). I then run the engine and it reaches about 195 and gets no hotter. The top hose was hot but the inlet hose at the thermostat doesn't seem to have any water in it. With the radiator cap off it didn't look to me like the thermostat was opening. I am used to seeing a big rush of fluid flow when it opens. I am wondering if I have enough fluid in the block to trigger the thermostat. Do not want to run too long without water in the block. Any thoughts???

You could always remove the thermostat and run it that way. At MTI we have an airhose operated vacuum plug that fits in the radiator cap opening and sucks the air out of the cooling system. Then you stick a hose into a tank of coolant and open the valve and it sucks coolant into the engine. Works pretty well.

Yeah, but that would empty my radiator freshly filled with Dex-Cool. Not cool. Thanks.

Just catch the fluid in a clean tub and reuse it. We reuse that stuff all the time.
