Default TPI in Chevelle....bolt right in??

I know have a slightly built TPI motor and 700R4 and am thinking it may be good to temporarily put in my new 70 chevelle project. Its complete w/ computer as I am pulling it out of the car and parting car out. I am buying a LS6 for it shortly but this would allow me to drive arround town if I don't have to modify much.

Thanks,
Jason

a TPI motor is the same thing as any other Gen 1 SBC.. i think you are asking if the TPI motor and trans will go into the chevelle. the motor, no problem, might have to modify the trans memeber

That's what I was thinking. I know the motor is no problem and I can use the headers from the 350 in it. I'm more concerned about if the driveshaft has to be changed if there is a length difference. Also not sure about the ignition side of things.

Driveshaft would probably have to be cut, the 700R4 is about 3" longer than the TH350, not sure about how a TH400 measures up though. Would not be much difference on the ignition side, I think that all you would have to do is eliminate the ballast resistor.

will have clearance problems with the HEI distributor at the fire wall,
buddy had problems when he was just upgrading his ignition on carb/ 350in a 70 chevelle,
slight mod to fire wall and you'll be fine
