Default vibration

I start getting an engine vibration (occurs in neutral so it is not trans, driveshaft, rear related) at about 3000 and continues as the RPMs increase. Anybody else experience this on their conversions?
Weird thing is I am not getting any vibration through the shifter.
I am only using the motor mounts and one transmission mount to locate the engine/trans.
I suspect the damper as it was an oem used peice from ebay. Not sure if it is even the right one for the car. Have a new Z06 clutch & pressure plate which was not balanced, and the flywheel was balanced.
Anybody else experienced this and what was the culprit.
Thanks,

It may sound too simple but have you checked that all the plug wires are connected? Running on 7 cylinders can cause a good vibration.

I trust you have already removed the belt and spun it up without the accessories turning so I'll tell you that when I had my engine balanced, the factory balancer was pretty far off-balance. I also found the flywheel to be off a bit too. It's REAL smooth now. Oh yeah, make sure your motor mounts are not "loaded" in any direction, that will transmit unwanted normal vibrations to get into the frame.
