"H" pipe, yes or no

"H" pipe, yes or no I made a true dual exhaust system for my jeep today, my buddy says I should have added an H pipe to connect the two sides before the mufflers. I'm running some cheapo turbo mufflers and no cats. Since ground clearance is at a premium, I didn't want a crossover running underneath the oilpan or tranny. Is an H pipe necessary or just a performance addition? Any ill effects from not running one? Would it still be benificial to run it behind the tcase or is that too far back?

its not nessicary at all. You would gain a fwe more HP & quiet down the exhaust a lil. But it wont hurt anything not having a crossover. BTW if you were going to run one you want to put it as close to the headers/manifolds as possible.

I'm currently getting ready to do an LS1 on a 2000 TJ Wrangler. Can you post some pictures of how you ran the duals? I'm hoping to be able to do duals myself. How loud are those turbos? I'd kinda like to keep the noise down on mine. I've got enough noise problems in the jeep as it is, and it's my highway trip vehicle as well as my wheeling vehicle.

I bought some 2.5" turns and straight pieces at the autoparts store and cut and welded it together, took a couple hours. The turbos aren't very loud at all unless you get into the throttle pretty good. When rockcrawling, most of my time is spent at idle or just above, the sound is very pleasant and doesn't interfere with talking with spotters or anything like that. I haven't put on any tailpipes yet, the system just ends at the mufflers, about where the gas tank used to be, I expect it to be quieter once those are in.
