Default how much with fit

This is my first post here so lets see how this works. my name is Richard and i am not that great at spelling so please be nice. I have an 89 firebird nothing special (half dead 2.8 with limping 700r4) what i have read is that i can put a ls-1 in for a power plant. and the rear end so that i have 3.42 gears and possy.and that i can also update the dash and seats. So my brain tells me that if i by a totalled 2000 f-body and get all/most of what i need. Is this all just wishfull thinking or am i on the right track. what i want out of my car is something that i can be proud of, ride in comfort and still have a car that i can do more mods to with out having to do a whole lot of re-programming.

any help would be helpfull before i go and drop a bunch on change on something i can't use.

Thanks

Richard

Welcome Richard, you are ambitious I'll say. Almost nothing will interchange directly from a 2000 into your 1989.......having said that, nothing is impossible. Look around this site, do some searches, you will find a wealth of information here and a great number of very competant people willing to help you. Alot of us "have been there, done that" and will share our mistakes with you! I'd suggest you try and keep your project simple and within your capabilities, alot of this stuff requires fabrication and engineering if you want a good dependable, fast and safe ride.

Well thanks for the reply. im a do-it yourselfer kinda guy but on that note i dont have the resorces to do a lot of fabbing. but like i was saying i heard that one can put the ls1 350 in a 98 f-body with just a bit of changes but i have not heard that i would have to do any fabbing to get the motor to fit. but it is easer if one has a doner car to get the wiring harness and cpu out of. and that the rear end just bolts on. now the interior is another thing. after a little searching i have found a couple of guys that have put a 95 f-body interior right into a 97-98 f-body. The problem that i keep running into is that after i find the page i can never find it a again. but i endever to persavear.

Actually the interiors of 3rd and 4th gens are very interchangable. Most of the mounting holes are the same many guys have done it. As for the powertrain that is another story but with the amount of them out there it must be getting easier also. I still would not call an entire interior swap a beginners project though. Good luck.
