Block plate ?
Block plate ? Is there a plate of thin metal that goes between the block and bellhousing on an LS1? I'm putting a standard chevy bellhousing to a LQ4 and there will be some gaps on each side of the block that will let debris into the bellhousing

It's going into a 1979 Jeep CJ5 and I will be using a T-18 4-speed with either a GM bellhousing modified to work with the T-18 or an Advaced Adapters bellhousing. Looking at a pic of a t56 trans bellhousing for a LS1, it appears that there must be some kind of cover that keeps debris out of the inside of the bellhousing from the gaps that would be caused by the vertical sides of the oil pan vs the round bellhousing.

There are two small plastic dust shields, one at the starter, the other for the opposite side. The one at the starter needs to be installed before the starter, the other side can be attached without removing anything else. These were designed around the OEM bell housings so I don't know how they'll fit with any other parts.
