Old and new VSS compatiblitly
Sorry for the cross-post, but I really need some help.
I have a 1995 Tcase with 1995 VSS running behind a 2000 4l80e. Will the 95 VSS send the proper signal to the newer 2000 computer? I have 2 VSS's hooked up, one to the tranny and one to the Tcase. It'll run fine for a minute or so then it starts acting like it's in neutral when I'm driving. As far as I know, the tranny was working fine before the swap.

The 95 sender will not work with the new computer. the 95 sender is a 4000 pulse per mile square wave sender, the 2000 uses a 40? pulse per revolution sine wave sender. Download the VSS chapter from jags that run, it has all the info you need about VSS`s http://www.jagsthatrun.com/index.html

Thanks. I checked it out. I tried putting a 2000 Tcase VSS into the 95 tcase and it doesn't fit.
Wonder if I can pop a VSS into the rear of the 4l80e where the 2wd's VSS hooks up? it has the hole for it, but I haven't checked to see if it has a tone ring installed.
