Starting engine after 2 years
However I`ve read various threads on how to do this after leaving the engine for such a long time (2yrs). Do I disconnect coils at the main connector? Take the plugs out? Wind the oil pressure up manually somewhere? How do I safely start it.
I`m also confused about the operation of the computer. The crank relearn procedure is often mentioned and I can find out about that on these boards but how do I know if I have to do it? The computer was adjusted for my application by Injection Specialiteis in Houston, Texas, so will it be ready to fire up after such a long lay off?
Also, regarding the various ground wires coming off the blue and red connections to the ECM, I`ve earthed them to the bulkhead of the car. But lots of people mention earthing them to the back of the heads......does it matter?......Thanks
if your bulk head/chassis grounded to the engine then should be ok
Other than that, and basic oil/water checks, fire her up !!
Nothing in the ecu should have changed over time, so that should work well.
There are now a few guys in the UK who can help with re-flashing the ecu, if you think you need any changes made.

Maybe squirt some oil down the plug holes first, but as long as the engine was oiled before it was last turned off there will always be a film of oil on the cylinder walls.
