Yep... been communicating with Scott.... seems everyone had the same problem.

What I dont get is all the pictures of other SB cars where they bolt in, then you get some cars that dont. If it was just the Ultima it would be understandable but there are other cars that have probs too.

I think Im gonna fab some solids. Jeff Schwartz is running solids in his and he says its fine..... he's in the process of going TT with his.... check it out... http://www.schwartzperformance.com/alien.htm

Our plates are not nearly as wide as the S&P versions. We noticed the issue with the 1/2" plates causing clearance problems, so we redesigned ours to work correctly.

Just make your own mounts like this : https://ls1tech.com/forums/attachmen...chmentid=10335
I made these for my 70 Corvette and they put the bellhousing in the exact position as the original smallblock so there is no issues with shifter position ect. I was even able to lower the engine enuf to use the truck intake with a factory 73 hood . Stan

FWIW, I went ahead and ordered the ATS plates with the energy suspension mounts (that ATS also provides). They arrived last week. These things look awesome! If they fit half as good as they look, they'll be great.

Note for you 2nd gen'ers - based on work he was doing for a customer on a 2nd gen, they redesigned the clutch mounting plate and now have one specific for 2nd gens. I think he said that a production version will be available in about a month. Something to consider ...

I also went ahead and bought the ATS steering box, and will likely be getting their oil pan too.

ATS isn't the cheapest around, but you get what you pay for and it seems they're putting out some top-quality products.

Thanks Tyler!

I agree with everybody - I sure felt I was the only one with the issue but that is obviously not the case! Well, I have made my own out of 1/4" stainless steel and I used the S&P design but I drilled the holes for both the S&P and BRP style to be flexible. Using the 1/4" plates the engine dropped right in without a problem! I also used the Energy Suspension motor mounts without the backing plates. However, I am having a new issue - after bolting it in the transmission tail is about 1 inch out of center toward the passenger side. I am taking measurements now to see why this is out of alignment.
